clean my apartment

I did all of the dishes today, and I bleached the sinkboard’s tile. Who knew that such a little thing would make such a big difference? The sticky spot, however, has not been properly cleaned. When I cleaned it a few days ago, I didn’t realize that what I was actually doing was diffusing the stickiness. Now we have a bigger, less sticky spot.

My boyfriend and I also struck a deal. I’ll do dishes if he does the trash. This is a gigantic leap.

Minimal progress, actually.
I cleaned the sticky spot on the kitchen floor.

And emptied the refrigerator.

AND did half of the dishes.

So a few hours after I wrote last night’s entry, I came home to find this:

My boyfriend had straightened up.
He took out the trash and hauled out some of his boxes.

This is definitely motivating, I thought I was going to be in this on my own. Instead we’re discussing who is going to clean up the stick spot on the kitchen floor- like “civilized” human beings.

And, I’m thinking of taking some before, after, and follow up pictures…

For me, at least.

Right now I am living in an “alright” apartment with my boyfriend. By alright I mean, we’re getting our money’s worth and that’s it. There are a few problems with the place, but that’s to be assumed. But if the apartment were CLEAN and ORGANIZED, I could overlook these flaws.

There are a few other problems:

1. My boyfriend’s job requires him to receive a lot of packages. On average two or three per day. And sometimes it takes him awhile to empty them out and throw them away. Right now they are cluttering up the living room and our walk in closet. Plus their contents are overflowing everywhere. It’s.. trying.

2. Both of us are messy people. We don’t like to take out the trash. And we don’t like to do the dishes. I can foresee a lot of arguments over this goal.

3. Finding time for this is going to be pretty hard, since he is at school during the day, and I’m at work at night.

I think we’re over due for some spring cleaning.
