Life hacking is the new self-help. 3 years ago

Life hacking is on my zeitgeist only because I realize that everything that interests me these days is somehow related to the wonderful topic of life hacking… or, as some people call it: self-help.

A few of the things that I’ve lately been drawn too which have also turned out to be really interesting and informative on the life hacking front include:

  1. 43 Things
  2. Toastmasters
  3. Life coaching
  4. Alcoholics Anonymous
  5. Therapy
  6. Pickup Artists
  7. Morale-O-Meter

So far I think Lifehacker has found the best name for this wacky hybrid brand of self-improvement (though I think lifehacker and the GTD people constrain themselves to technology and the internet a bit too much). Strangely, the least cheesy and most honest talk about how to be your best self is coming from the pickup artist community. Sure, they’re talking about how to get laid, but the Toastmasters people are talking about how to nail an important job interview, and the life coaching people are talking about how to make $100,000 in your first year. Who’s the real slut? My favorite pickup artist team at the moment is Charisma Arts... though they don’t post very often, they even have podcasts.

Paul Newman 3 years ago

Watched a movie by him while eating his popcorn. Played into current obsession with hustlers and con men and fluffy buttery snacks.

Andy Warhol 3 years ago

He is definitely on my zeitgeist. Here’s a brain dump of my recent obsession with him.
