bare feed lots with no shelter (i.e. not even trees or a ravine) from scalding sun or blasting wind with negative fahrenheit temps makes it hard to savor a steak. Funny thing is, I moved to Nebraska and then became a vegetarian with exquisite steak houses everywhere. When you come from eastern farmland where calves actually play like puppies in grassy pastures and then see where most of our beef actually comes from it is a downer. Those nice plastic wrapped packages in the grocery come from a feeling creature’s hell.
