Clear out the clutter in my spare room

Lizz and I finally got around to buying wardrobes a month or so ago. They got built over a weekend, and after a week or so I finally got around to putting handles on the doors.

I moved the old wardrobe into the spare room and Lizz promptly filled it with various shoes and accessories.

For a while the spare room looked even worse because we put all of the wardrobe boxes in there because the bin was full. That didn’t last too long though. I got myself in the mood for another clearing session.

I got rid of all the rubbish, and then spent a while consolidating boxes again. There are actually parts of the room that can be walked on now. It’s really starting to get there.

There is a plan to put a table and a little sofa in there at some point in the near future. I hope to clear out a bit more stuff before then though. We have old printer cartridges and a mirrored cabinet to throw away. A useless TV, a couple of monitors that aren’t worth keeping any more, an insanely old Mac that I’ve only booted up once… The list goes on. I think a trip to the dump is in order. Perhaps I’ll get that done this week. :)

I spent an hour or so working on the spare room yesterday. I moved some more boxes around to make some space. Also managed to merge a few boxes into a smaller amount of boxes, which is always good.

There was some random sticker remnant on the floor that I scrubbed off with the business side of a sponge. Then I tackled some sort of wood stain/glue spillage that was by the door. That’s the single most difficult stain I’ve ever tackled. I felt like Mr. Muscle, but not the modern one, the proper one!

After that Lizz and I discussed buying wardrobes for our room so we can start moving our older furniture into there to tidy it up even more. I think we’ve found a good wardrobe now, and we’re hopefully going to get two of them at some point soon, and a chest of drawers to go with it. That’ll free up some bedroom furniture to go in there to store things in more tidily.

I’m thinking about setting up a projector and a screen in there at the moment. I think it’d be a pretty sweet little cinema room type thing. Just need some comfy seating and lots of expensive equipment! :D

Over the weekend I made a bit of an effort to get the spare room sorted. I’ve cleared quite a bit of space in there now, but there’s still a lot to do. It doesn’t help that there’s no furniture for the whole room anyway.

I think a wardrobe, a chest of drawers, and some sort of sofa bed would be a good idea for that room. There’s quite a lot of potential in there, but it’s not being used for anything but a store room at the moment.
