Site for tracking your progress 8 months ago

The site I used to use to track my progress appears to be down again, and has been for quite a while now. So I’ve made an alternative site for tracking progress with the IMDb list: http://mytopfilms.net

It’s still in the early stages, but does track updates to the IMDb list. You just need to sign up and then you can keep track of your progress too.

Adding other lists will be possible soon for things like Film4’s top 50, AFI’s top 100, etc. etc.

I’m working on a forum installation now, but please contact me on here with any suggestions, bug reports, ideas until that’s running.

Changed my mind 2 years ago

I’m just going to use twofifty.org to keep track of those movies instead. I’m now over half way through the current top 250. :D I’ve got a few more to be watching, too.

It’s still going to take quite a while to watch all 250, but I’ve come a long way from where I started at about 90 out of 250 films. :)

123/250 - Rebecca 2 years ago

I liked parts of this film, but it did seem to drag on quite a bit. That might be more my own fault though. I was pretty much ready for falling asleep before I put the film on.

There are worse films on this list, but there are definitely better ones. It goes somewhere closer to the bottom in my personal 250, if I could ever remember and rate so many films.

Ever-changing list 2 years ago

I’m going to watch all of the movies I can find from the list I copied when I first added this goal, then I’ll find the ones I have to watch from the updated list on twofifty and finish those ones off too. This goal might take another year or two at the rate I’m going, so the list will almost certainly have changed considerably in that time.

If they’re good enough to get into that list for even a day then they’re almost certainly worth watching anyway. :D

122/250 - Blade Runner 2 years ago

I got lent this on DVD a little over a week ago. I was having a slow day at home so I decided to stick it on.

I’m surprised I’ve never seen it before today. It’s a pretty big film for its genre. I’m a fan of the genre too.

I liked it quite a lot. There were some things I found a bit stupid, like how LA is supposedly going to look in just 12 years time. It’s usually quite funny to watch a film set in the future and see dates like 2010 and everyone’s wearing silver living in 200 storey apartment buildings eating tablet-form food.

The Transformers movie was set in 2005, if I recall correctly. Pretty funny stuff.

Anyway, yeah, good film. Worth watching if you’ve got a couple of hours and you like a bit of sci-fi! :)

121/250 - Crash 2 years ago

I watched Crash over the weekend. I was surprised by how amazingly good it is. I always thought it was something like Fast and Furious because of the title, and a poster I seem to remember seeing at some point.

My favourite scene has to be when the guy’s putting the impenetrable cape on his daughter… Brilliant film!

120/250 - Being John Malkovich 2 years ago

I watched this film last week some time. Pretty messed up, but the kind of film I absolutely love to watch! :D It made me laugh a lot.

119/250 - The Best Years Of Our Lives 2 years ago

I already wrote an entry about this film on the AFI top 100 goal… It’s alright, but nothing spectacular.

I added this entry so I keep track of the number I’ve seen without counting all the time.

118/250 - American History X 2 years ago

A very interesting film to get you thinking. Graphic and violent for definite. A different way of looking at things.

Some parts seemed to fit with Hotel Rwanda, which I watched earlier. That surprised me a lot. The difference between one human being and another. How silly and pointless to focus on the minute differences when there are huge similarities.

I also found it very strange that both Paul in Hotel Rwanda and Derek in American History X tied their ties with the thin end way longer than the thick end. Just a little something I noticed :)

117/250 - Hotel Rwanda 2 years ago

Shocking.

A touching movie that really got to me. It’s like the World War II movies I’ve mentioned previously. It just hits you somewhere how stupid and horrible war can be.

I can’t find the words to describe it. Just watch it and you’ll know how I feel.
