Yes, I am indeed a happy person! This has to be one of the best progresses I’ve made in attempting to conquer the LOTR book. This week, I covered close to 60 pages (it could be more, I kinda lost count) of the book. I resumed my reading last week from somewhere around the part where Gandalf and Pippin, upon the little ‘accident’ with the palantir, ride off in the night towards Gondor. Then I continued over the span of a few days into the part where Frodo and Sam meet Faramir (Faramir, Faramir, my favourite character!), through the part where Smeagol/Gollum finally manages to eat his fill of fish at the Forbidden Pool (at great risk, of course), and finally arrived this afternoon at the part where Smeagol/Gollum/Stinker/Slinker leads Frodo and Sam up the stairs of Cirith Ungol. I stopped there, because my eyes were kinda going all blurry and my head was almost swimming from sleepiness. My aim is to finish (finally!) the book before July, ‘cause that’s when I’ll have to return to university and that means less time for me to really do my reading. So there you have it. 6 weeks to complete the entire book… Can I do it? Oh yes I can!

Well, I’m 3 weeks into my 2-month holiday from university, and this is the best time for me to catch up on finishing my LOTR book. This week, I finally hit the 600-page mark, and last night I reached the chapter on the Black Gates of Mordor! Yippee for me! I’ve reached the part where Frodo and Sam reach the Black Gates and they see the armies marching into Mordor, and Gollum offers to bring them through another route. This is seriously the furthest I’ve ever gone in reading this book. Man, here’s to hoping I can really finish it this holidays. Cheers!
Okay, so it’s been taking me too long to just read a few pages, but last night (or rather this morning), at about 5.30am I woke up and started reading. In my last entry I mentioned that I had reached the part on the Balrog, and today I am rather pleased to announce that I have now reached the part where Haldir (and his brothers) appear. Well, isn’t that nice? Best part is Haldir keeps urging me on to read… Muahahahaha! Cheers!
Yes, after all that trying to catch up, I have actually reached the part where Gandalf and the Balrog trip and fall into the hole. Yay, me!
