Swim with dolphins

My husband and I were paddle boarding this morning and on our way toward a beach that we planned to swim at, we saw a big pod of dolphins splashing, and jumping parallel to us less than 30 yards away! I feel so blessed that this is the second time in less than a year that we’ve had the pleasure to observe such miraculous creatures in the wild. I had to stop and just watch them. It definitely reminds me of how much I love what we do for fun, and where we live!

Today when we went surfing/paddle boarding, I finally got to see dolphins (spinners) in the wild! My husband and I saw them from afar, and I ended up paddling to a very deep spot about 30 yards away from where the dolphins were. There were about 20 of them just swimming around and jumping in the air! I couldn’t believe I was so close to them; they were amazingly awesome to watch :D I just sat on my board and observed them busting tricks in the water and playing around together! I wanted so badly to go even closer to where I could swim with them, but I didn’t dare ;) I was just grateful to see the dolphins at all!

I finally got my dolphin experience this past week, and it was extra special :) My parents and I swam with one named ‘Niko’ and it was amazing! We all got to touch him, kiss him, and just be around him. It was a phenomenal experience that I will always remember!! Now to swim with them in the wild…

A little while back I made the decision that I no longer wanted to swim with “trained” dolphins through a company because it’s just too sad. The experience isn’t very authentic, and I wouldn’t really be able to see the dolphins in their natural glory. So I’ve been trying to find out when they’re around and swim with them in the wild!

I’d heard that there were hundreds at a particular beach from friends recently, so my husband and I headed out there today and went snorkeling. We both definitely heard some odd sounds under the water like clicks and other noises out of the norm, but we didn’t see any dolphins :( It’s alright though, we’ll just keep trying and see what happens! At the very least, we had a wonderful time at the beach and got to check out a new spot together :D

I decided that I’d rather wait to do this in ‘08 sometime so that I can go with my mom because this is something she wants to do very much as well! We’re both really excited and looking forward to our mother/daughter experience together next year :D

We actually live near a company that specializes in making this type of dream come true! I am hoping to experience this joy within the next year or two :D I know it will be amazing!
