train my dog

I’ve been telling Luna to sit when I put her leash on or remove it. She’s getting better at that; sometimes when I have her leash in my hands she’ll walk up to me, sit down, and look up at me with expectation in her big brown eyes. grin I love my Lu. :o)

My dog Luna… she’s beautiful and so sweet, but has selective hearing or selective obedience, it seems like.

My girlfriend encouraged me to reinforce the times when she DOES listen by giving her a treat. I’ve been doing that and am noticing Luna’s progress. Woo-hoo! But she’s a long way from where she needs to be, and from where I know her breed CAN be. She’s mixed, but primarily Belgian Malenois. That breed is trained to be everything from police dogs to drug dogs and even cadaver dogs. She has the potential; I just have to dig down, find it, and pull it out of her. :o)

What I really want to do is enroll her in a training class at a pet store; something like that. Soon as I get the money and the time… two things that are difficult to have extra of, much less at the same time… :o)
