I went home this Xmas and spent time with each of my parents separately. I’ve always been on reasonably good terms with my dad, as we always found something to talk about, but connecting with my mom has always been a challenge. Finally, my mom discovered that she likes my taste in books, so I’m going to be sending her books I’ve read on a regular basis. Also, for her 60th birthday, I’m going to send her on a trip to New Zealand.
