24-15

24 – Amores Perros

23 – Brown Bunny

22 – Oldboy

21 – A Very Long Engagement

20 – Run Lola Run

19 – Bubba Ho-Tep

18 – Hidden

17 – School of Rock

33 - 25

33 – 25th Hour

Ed Norton is great in this. The film follows a man and how he spends his last day of freedom before going to prison. It’s not overly emotional, but instead the viewer is more interested in how things will turn out for Norton.

32 – The Watcher

Keanu Reeves is a terrible actor. The only redeeming thing about this is James Spader.

31 – Caddyshack

Actually hilarious. Possibly one of my favourite films, Chevy Chase and Bill Murray are brilliant in this.

30 – True Romance

Both Patricia Arquette and Christian Slater are awesome in this, very watchable and entertaining. From the first scene, I knew I’d love it. Amazing.

29 – Saving Private Ryan

Long, but entertaining. Does not require too many brain cells to watch, but was a little draining. There is some great photography in this, though.

28 – The Bourne Identity

I’m seemingly obsessed with Matt Damon at the moment, having seen three Damon films in the past few days. This film is a pretty good action yarn, with the twist of the main character not having a clue about what he’s doing.

27 – Wrong Turn

Awful gore film. I like my horror films to be a little more intelligent than this.

26 – My Name Is Modesty

Terrible adaption of the Modesty Blaise comics, without a real plot or anything interesting.

25 – Transamerica

WEEK FIVE

35 – The Tuxedo

Not that bad a premise, but it was still pretty cheesy, and not that great.

34 – New Jack City

Pretty shit. I need to start watching some good films, again.

Fourth week.

39 – Bad Company.

The only memorable bit of this film was when a spy referred to Chris Rock as “son”. His character’s response was hilarious.

38 – Withnail and I.

The tale of two frustrated, unemployed and wasted actors, who go on holiday to the country. It’s a great film with superb acting.

37 – Secretary.

Maggie Gyllenhaal is superb in this slightly disturbing film about a girl fresh out of a mental hospital, who realises that she is a submissive person, in the sex way.

36 – Snakes on a Plane.

Is it worth the hype? Until Samuel L Jackson comes in and just throws a massive snake out of the way in that good ol’ Sammy way, I was unsure too. It really is quite funny for what it is. Which is essentially a brilliant B-movie with an A-list actor.

Week 3

42 – American Graffiti

This film is oretty heavily bummed, and I guess it’s quite good, but I still don’t like films where they tell you what happened to the people after the film. I think it should be left to the viewer’s imagination.

41 – Broken Flowers

Definitely not a bad film. I really liked the twist at the end, the uncertainty and the general inconclusiveness. Thumbs up.

40 – Three Fugitives

Funny in places, a bit of a crazy plot. But still kind of good. I liked it, but it’s not brilliant.

This week!

47 – Team America

Really funny, made me laugh at loud. Ridonculous in places, with catchy music.

Not as good as BASEketball, though. Could improve upon multiple viewings.

46 – Amelie

Beautiful, funny and touching. I’m a bit gay for this film. Audrey Tautou plays Amelie so well, and it’s a really sweet story. Loved it.

45 – Old School

Vaguely funny comedy with Vince Vaughn and Will Ferrell. Sadly, not as good as say, Wedding Crashers. Not really that into it.

44 – The French Connection

The music was shit, it was a pretty average police ‘thriller’. Roy Scheider of JAWS fame was in it. Er, that’s about it.

43 – Boys N The Hood – Increase The Peace

Fiarly good film about a boy who learns how to be a ‘man’ and how he doesn’t want to fall in with the stereotype. A good social commentary, but a bit too moralistic for me.

Why? (50, 49 and 48)

I don’t feel as though I watch enough films. I’ll post the ones I do watch in here, with a brief synopsis. I’ll start with films 50 and 49.

50 – Sideways

I love Paul Giamatti, he plays hopeless characters incredibly well, leaving the viewer wanting to sympathise with him, but restricted because of personality traits that his characters have.I found this film funny, and original. I’d definitely recommend it.

49 – Kung Fu Hustle

This is brilliant. Absolutely. It’s directed by Stephen Chow, and although I find stuff from the Matrix a bit stale now, the action in this film is INCREDIBLE. I was so surprised by this film, I’d presumed it was an Americanised film with martial arts, similar to Bulletproof Monk or something, but it wasn’t at all. It’s humourous, and innovative in the way that it uses music.

48 – The Lost Boys

Like a mix between Stand By Me (well, Corey Feldman + Kiefer Sutherland are in it and they are a gang and stuff) and the Buffy film (the vampires). It’s ace, I really enjoyed it. The ending made me chuckle too much.
