I miss gardening. This time of year the stores are full of specials on gardening gear and plants, and I keep wishing I had space to grow things. I have a pot-plant or two, but it’s not the same. I’m looking forward to having a whole garden of my own.

I didn’t have much luck with this when I was looking into it some time ago, but I’d still like to do some volunteer work at some point, preferably with children or the elderly.
I’ve been thinking of interesting, self-expressing things I could do for quite a while, and it’s starting to feel like the right time to try it. Especially now, since I always get a “make changes and start over” feeling when I get back to normal life after a holiday. It’ll probably take the form of either a major hairstyle change (I’ve never ever had it shorter than below the shoulders, and I’m thinking of getting it cut short and shaggy) or getting a tattoo (I know exactly what I want and where, it’s just a matter of finding the courage!)
The motivation and courage to do something drastic (I know they’re not really huge things, but they feel big to me) comes and goes so I’m not sure exactly when I’ll do this, but I’d like to have done something by the end of the summer.
Last night, in Last Chance To See, I read Douglas Adams’ account of visiting the gorillas. I was overwhelmed – as I am every time I read stories like that – by their majesty and by the description of how moving an experience it is. Someday I want to see for myself.
Came across this in a comment on another thread. Wow, wow, wow. How cool would this be?! Maybe, now that I have so much family in Australia, I’ll get the chance someday :o)
There are a few bands/artists I’d really love to see live – the Bare Naked Ladies, Placebo and Nick Cave (missed him at the Electric Picnic last year due to profound pennilessness, dammit!) all spring to mind. I’d love to go see more live music in general, too.
How unbelievably awesome would this be?! It’s been visible in Dublin once or twice in the past couple decades, I think during periods of unusually high solar activity, but I’ve never seen it. Ideally, though, I’d like to see it in Alaska or Lapland or somewhere like that – in the middle of nowhere in a frozen wilderness, for the truly eldritch experience!
I’d love to be involved in some way with animal rescue and welfare. Someday, when I have more space.
is for listing all the things that are not quite work-towards-able and realistic enough to merit a goal of their own, but that I’d still love the opportunity to do and will jump at the chance if ever I get it! So, my shower in a waterfall goal that got given up for unlikeliness can be reinstated here.
Other mad things I’d love to do include:- Climb a volcano – preferably one that’s still at least sort of active
- Go scuba-diving or
snorkelling - Go CouchSurfing
- Pack a bag, go to the airport and take the first available flight
