find my passion

so, i just got home from work and there was a lady who said the nicest thing a customer has ever said to me. she told me i had “real finesse” in the way i spoke and held myself. i was so taken aback and flattered because no one’s ever told me that before. she told me to be sure to make something of myself. i told her not to worry, i don’t plan on making a career out of linens n’ things. ;)

i was talking to a friend of mine last night and we got on the subject of careers, futures and all that stuff. i said that it’s not as easy as some may think to find my passion in life because i’m passionate about several things, and it’s just finding that one passion to focus on being successful in. she in turn told me to remember that some passions will always be hobbies and i never thought of it that way. i’ve been under this pressure to turn at least one thing that i love into something profitable when it might always just be a hobby of mine. i love photography, but i’ll probably never be a professional photographer. i’ll continue to dabble in it for the rest of my life and i’m fine with that! i don’t need to be an expert photographer! i only have to be as good as i choose to be! i found a passion. it’s mine, so i guess you can say i kinda sorta found my passion…one of my passions. :)

after our conversation, i did allow myself to toy with the idea of a career somehow related to music. not performance, i’ll never be that good. but i loooove music. LOOOOOOVE music. it inspires, motivates, hypnotizes, humbles, and blows me away! i don’t know what i would do, but i know i’d be happy if my life and career somehow had music involved in it. passion numero dos. :)

it’s so good to see i’m not the only person who can’t answer the question, “so what are you passionate about?” it’s a loaded question that leaves me staring blankly at the person before i pull an answer out of my ass. ;) but seriously, i need to seek out where my true passion lies in life so that i can know where to go from here. i went to school for 2.5 years and realized i didn’t really know what i wanted to do with my life. fun, right? so yay! on to life discovery and all that fun jazz which, so far isn’t much fun either…
