I have this coworker that is perpetually bragging about how educated she is, how athletic she is, how popular she is, etc. It’s like she’s on some weird motivational thing to act as though she already has the life she wants. She’s not anywhere near the fabulous person she is. In fact, she looks absolutely pathetic! (Some people actually feel sorry for her.) So why am I letting her annoy me?

(I’ve tried the “point and laugh” tactic, if only with a few trusted friends. So far, it’s working.)

So what is stupidity, anyway? 4 years ago

Dogbert once told Dilbert: “I didn’t know whether you were ignorant or just plain stupid. But then I said to myself, ‘Whoa, Dogbert, don’t be so narrow-minded. You could easily be both.’”

I personally define ignorance as simply not knowing. Ignorance can be corrected. Stupidity, on the other hand, is knowing, but acting [in a bad way] anyway. It can’t be corrected, unless the stupid person wants to be corrected. They almost always don’t. Unfortunately, I know people who fit both categories.
