i remember reading this really great article about how this one father couldn’t really help his autistic child, but read about how surfing helped open a child up and decided to take his son surfing. He got a pro surfer who took autistic kids for free on weekends or something and off his kid was. Getting the kid into the wetsuit and out into the water was hell, but once he was on a wave, he was free. Afterwards, he couldn’t stop smiling and was actually talking and naming things on the car ride home. How awesome! Of course, he didn’t stay like that, but whenevr he went surfing, he would open up again. People don’t really know what it is about surfing that opens kids up. Mysteries are the best, though
