get another tattoo

To mark my new life, as it were, I’m getting my tattoo in November for my birthday. This past year has been one of struggle, grief, accomplishment and change. What better time than to celebrate my next year on Earth with a tattoo that reminds me that I still have a purpose to see through?

My friend Eric is going to do my script tattoo. He suggested I get it on the inside of my ankle, but I’d rather get it the inside of my left wrist.

I want that phrase on my left inner arm, but my new workplace has an issue with visible tats. (I’ll be wearing pants pretty much daily. Awesome.)

I don’t want it on my upper arm, shoulder.

I’m thinking I can get away with covering it with bracelets.

Arrrgh.

My uncle (who I just met this year), is from Northern Ireland, so I’m now Facebook friends with his friend in Belfast. WIN.

I asked for his suggestion as well.

I’m trying to come up with something that says something to the effect of this, a little more eloquently, and with fewer words:

I am my mother’s daughter, my grandmother’s granddaughter. I am strong. I am resilient. I will get through it. It’s in my blood.

Tá mé láidir. Tá mé athléimneach. Mairfidh mé.

I just have to double check things, and it’s a go in at least October. :)

“Tá mé láidir” is the correct translation. It’s going on the inside of my left forearm, lengthwise, in script or Celtic style.

Now I have to contact M, the dude who did my fleur-de-lis, and schedule an appointment… and take my brother along for his first tattoo. :)

I got my sad fleur-de-lis redone. It was boring, asymmetrical and unfortunately had a bad memory attached.

Man, it looks exponentially better.

I’ve decided to skip the Hindi tattoo entirely, and get the phrase “Tá mé láidir” or “Tá mé tréan” depending on which is the correct translation.

These people are amazing, for the work they are trying to do.
I met Eric at the Gary air show last weekend. What a great guy.
