I took some measurements today, of my waist and hips and such. I will NOT be posting them here, but it will give me a good idea of how I’m actually doing with this goal. Judging fitness levels by weight can be very misleading, and I plan to gain quite a bit of muscle here. We may have to let go of that other goal I have which is “weigh 125 pounds again,” because I don’t know if it is possible for me to be that light and be in great shape at the same time. For now, I’ll leave it up.
Things To Do:
- Keep walking to and from work whenever time permits.
- Get bike back and feel comfortable riding it in the city.
- Start “Couch to 5K” once and for all.
- Join the gym up the street as soon as I can afford it.
- Continue walking to do errands on days off.
- Try to do a little something every day, even on lazy weekends when I really don’t feel like it.
- Cook healthy food at home more often (also saves money).

I’m doing this interval training thing I found on the internet. It goes like this:
*Weight training first, then cardio as follows:
1. Warm up for five minutes.
2. One Round: Perform 1 minute as fast as you can (a level 9 or 10 intensity – on a scale of 1-10).
Recover at a moderate pace for two minutes (a level 6-7 intensity).
That’s one “round” – and it lasts three minutes.
3. Cool down for five minutes.
You up the amount of rounds you do every few weeks, starting off with 3, then 4, etc. You’re also supposed to switch which type of machine you use every time, so I’ve been doing stuff I’ve never really done before. (Cranking!)
Determined to be less fat by summertime.

I weighed myself this weekend when I was at my mom’s housesitting, and I figured out that I’VE GAINED FIFTEEN POUNDS SINCE I MOVED TO THE CITY. Fifteen pounds in three months.
Ouch. Quite a startling realization.
Anyways, that pretty much got me going back to the gym, big time. I’ve also been obsessively keeping up with a very healthy diet, starting the minute I got back home. We’ve also decided to cut out booze for the entire month, not that we drink much anyways, but every little bit helps.
I just hope that this extra “baggage” all drops off quickly.

I SHOULD BE GOING TO THE GYM EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Really, I have no excuse. I’m unemployed, with no job in sight. I have A HUGE GYM IN THE BOTTOM FLOOR OF MY BUILDING that is free for me to use, and that I basically have sole use of during the daytime hours. Why I only managed to make it down there once, twice a week is beyond me. I am lazy. I was sick, so I was using that as my excuse for awhile. Blah blah blah.
No more excuses. 5 times a week.

Yesterday, I went to the gym for the very first time since I injured my back 7 weeks ago. I have to take it slowly and be sure to not overdo it, but I managed to do a good amount of cardio. It’ll take me awhile to get back to where I was. It’s ever so important for me to keep in the best shape possible to prevent future injuries.
I’ve gained some extra poundage since I wasn’t able to do much physically for such a long time. Glad to finally be on the way to shedding those.
Also, I really can’t wait until I’m able to get back on my bike. I only got to ride it ONCE since I got it fixed up, since I literally hurt myself the day after I got it back from the shop. Geez.
