paint a picture

I decided to paint a picture of a photo that I took a few years ago. It’s not too difficult, so I thought it would be a good one to start with. It’s of a sailboat on the lake with land in the horizon. I don’t know about the water though…it’s not looking to good! But, that’s ok, it’s my first painting in quite some time!!!

I’ve been painting a little on paper. Mostly just messing around and getting to know how the paint mixes. I did paint a picture of a dog though! I think it’s kind of silly and looks juvenile, but my husband really likes it (which is saying something, because I got no comment from him about the last thing that I attempted to paint!) But, I’m not going to call this goal complete until I get some paint on canvas!

I’ve been spending some time with an old friend that I’ve recently gotten into contact with. He inspires me so much! My drive was practically gone. Now, I’ve found myself working on getting my darkroom together and I even bought some paints and brushes. I played around last night and am trying to decide what I want my first painting to be…I have too many ideas!

I went to the Georgia O’Keefe museum in Santa Fe and left with a desire to express myself with a paintbrush. But, whenever I sit down to paint or draw or whatever, I just go blank. I can’t think of anything to put on the paper. My sister is such a good artist, I am a better photographer than her, but the rest of the skill went to her!
