I went to bed every night this week at 1:45am for 5 hours sleep/night, but only used snooze once! My sleep gets so screwed up after pulling an all-nighter for my job.

The key to getting back on track will be to stop taking naps and to try and get to bed earlier.

The main reason I’m doing this goal is because I need to get to work earlier to get out at a reasonable time and avoid rush-hour traffic which wastes my time and totally stresses me out.

struggling 23 months ago

Through December, I was good and got right around 7.5 hours of sleep per night, on average. But I wasn’t consistent each night – 10 hours one night and 5 the next average out to 7.5.

Also, I never get to bed at a normal time, which often means I’m groggy in the morning and hitting snooze a few times. And I take too many naps cause of not managing this goal well.

not making progress 2 years ago

For November, I logged 6 hours, 45 min of sleep per night. Used snooze at least once every other day.

wow is this ever difficult 2 years ago

I averaged only 6.5 hours of sleep each day this month, but I’m glad I’ve started to track this stuff. Oh, and I use the snooze just about every day.

Daylight savings time should help out a lot here.

re-starting point 2 years ago

I guess the first step would be to set a sleep schedule. So I can get to work on time, I will get up at 6:30AM on weekdays without hitting snooze. The latter part is tough for me, but I think it will make me less groggy that day, and also more able to fall asleep that night.

Weekends I will try to be up at 8:30am… even if I have to set an alarm. I know that I haven’t been getting enough sleep, but haven’t kept track of just how bad. So, I’m going to take it a week at a time, and keep a log to see if I can keep this schedule.

currently up @ 6:40am 2 years ago

I’ve been consistently meeting this goal lately, getting up at 6:40am every weekday without hitting the snooze button. I get out of the house by about 8:00am and with the half hour drive to work (at best), I arrive around 8:30am every day. Really, I’d like to make it there by 8:00am, so I should be getting up earlier and getting ready faster. This week I’m going to try setting my alarm for 6:30am, and hope to drag myself out of bed without hitting the snooze.

getting back on track 2 years ago

I haven’t been paying close attention to this goal for over a month now, although I am up at 7:00am every weekday. Not hitting snooze is the hardest part. Also, its difficult to not cheat on weekends, where I nap off a huge chunk of the day… or sleep in and stay up ridiculously late.

Ideally, I’d like to be getting up everyday around 6:30am. I’m not big on setting a “bed time,” but I should be thinking about going to bed around 11:30ish every night. It would really help my mood, just to be able to leave work at a reasonable time – since I’m getting there a half hour earlier, I can leave earlier. The end goal is to avoid rush hour traffic, which completely destroys my mood and stresses me out.

Ironically, I’m up way too late writing this… so I’m off to bed.

cold really threw me off this goal 2 years ago

I had this sleep schedule down pat for at least a month, but the past week I’ve slacked off. I give myself a pass for now since I’ve been sick. My main problem is I can’t sleep because I’m coughing so much – my wife says I even cough in my sleep.

I really need to get back into this again, and go to bed at a reasonable time. And get up at 7:00am sharp without hitting snooze. I’ve had this cold for just over a week now. I’ll give it until Sunday, and if I’m not better by then, I’m going to the doctor.

week 3 - goal met for 5 of 7 days 2 years ago

As usual, I was able to get up at 7:00am every weekday.

Friday I had to work all night, so on Saturday I was just getting to bed at 7:00 in the morning. I got out of bed at like 1:00pm. Then Sunday was basically spillover, and I couldn’t get up until 10:30am.

This week, I don’t have to work any nights, so there’s no excuse for not getting up everyday consistently.

week 2 - goal met for 6 days 2 years ago

I made an improvement this week, getting up at 7am without hitting snooze for 6 of 7 days. Only day I missed was Saturday morning, understandably =) It does feel weird getting up early on Sunday, but I feel like I have the whole day to be productive.

I feel extremely groggy right when I wake up, but that passes after a few minutes. At least I’m starting to make this routine. My goal is to keep this sleep schedule every day this week.
