Living in south Florida, knowing Spanish is pretty much a must if you want to
a) get a job
b) order food
c) talk to about 50% of the population
d) pretty much just step out of your house.
As such, my mom had me taking Spanish since I was five years old. I was never interested in it then, and I went all through school learning it and I pretty much hated it. The reason, I’ve recently discovered, was because I was learning the same things over and over again. When I got into my Sophomore year of high school, I began an innovative, new learning experience: SPANISH II. I started learning verb tenses and new endings. It became so much more exciting because I realized there was so much more to this beautiful language than “azul=blue” and “mesa=table.” I’m so much more interested because I live in a place where I will be able to use this skill every day. I even listen to Spanish radio or television sometimes to help me out, and speak in my limited Spanish tongue when I am ordering food or something from a Spanish cashier.
I’m really excited, and I’d love to have a group of excited people to support and to support me in return!
