looking for fall exercise programs that won't bankrupt me 16 months ago

think may be solution at local rec center; apparently has classes for adults too, which is new to me. fall list not out till sat., but if similar to summer program, then could possibly do tae kwan do, t’ai chi, pilates, maybe sport like basketball on free gym days, for abt. $5/wk (per class). much better (for now, for short term) than the last gym checked out, which was $99 down, then $15/month for 3 years. blech.

also looking at nearby skating rinks for possible free skates during the winter – maybe not skate as regular routine but as an additional treat? should try to believe “exercise treat” is not oxymoron.

where i am so far... aug. 30, 08 16 months ago

have been mostly walking during the summer, although have biked a bit and did spend a day at the waterpark. walked first to train for a 10k in september (but after an ankle/foot injury, looks as if won’t be ready for race when time comes); second to walk new dog daily and help build her stamina too; third to reduce use of car to save on gas & also better for environment. possibly doing too much of just the one activity – when hit mile 3-4, start to get bored just looking around and listening to music.

possible mini-goal: try other activities (biking, swimming if can find cheap pool, adult class at rec center, etc.) or try audiobooks instead of music to keep attention. (or forget that no longer 5 years old and make the walks into a search for buried treasure, or plotting an escape route for when the ninjas come. pirates and ninjas are the spice of life, yo.)
