Here’s to all the most travel cheer!!!!!
I have been out of high school for one year and a few weeks. Most people say they are going to take a year off before they go to college, and then never go. Well my year off wasn’t planned so I’m hoping that I’ll be an exception to that.
Anyway, I have been to 42 states since June 11th 2006. These trips have been the most amazing times of my life. Filled with stories and memories with friends and family that I will never forget. I travel the country usually every few weeks.
My most traveled route would be from Scranton Pennsylvania to Orlando Florida. I have flown and driven that route more times that I can count or remember. In fact I will be going there again next Wednesday for a week and will be spending the 4th of July in Florida. Not to mention I will eventually be moving back down there.
I have lived in New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Florida, and Alabama. It helps when you have family spaced out, when you can travel with just the expense of the food and gas.
In May, I drove across the country alone for the first time in my life. Only after my trip was over did I realize I just may have lived someones dream. I drove from Pennsylvania to Washington and back in 8 days, and I did it in my convertible that I have since sold. On the way there I had a friend with me, but I dropped him off in Seattle with his sister because I had to be back in Pennsylvania in time to drive to Miami with another friend.
The trip back was the most rewarding drive of my life. I made the journey over 3 days. Sleeping 5 hours, 8 hours, and 10 hours, respectively each of the 3 times I stopped. By the time that trip was over (I have a nifty GPS thing) I had spent over 120 hours in the car including sleep and driving.
I don’t think I will ever stop driving and there are far too many trips to catalog here. I just think of my progress in terms of the mileage I put on my cars. I owned a 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT convertible for 1 month (literally). By the time I sold it (last month) I had put about 13,500 miles on it.
The states I have not been to:
Hawaii
Alaska
New Mexico
Arizona
Louisiana
Oklahoma
Maine
Vermont
for a cross section of a few of my trips, there are a lot of pictures I took posted on my flickr site which can be found here:
