I found the easiest way to save money was through an automated draw from my primary checking into my savings account. On top of that, I took some IT contracting work and put all the money from that (which was extra) into savings. In the past 6 months, I’ve been able to save almost $10,000, without altering my lifestyle.
I’ll call this a success.

is staying at home and not going out (to eat, to drink, or otherwise spend away my paycheck).
Budgetting is also difficult. I can write up a good budget sure, but I have the damnedest time sticking to it.
Anyone looking to save up money as fast as possible may want to look at opening up an ING savings account – their interest rate is incredible, and the online tools are top notch.
