as new cardio fun workout to replace swimming. No getting kicked in the head. Am quite disgruntled with swimming regiment. Which sucks sooooooo bad cuz I love it so. Perhaps when new years rush is over.

Our city is busting at the seams and cannot support all the activities in one place. As a result lane swimming has nearly become unbearable. I went again on Wednesday night – one of the very few availables swim times… had to share one lane with 7 people. It was horrifying. Different speeds and athletic levels were frustrating. Add on the fact that it is January and everyone with a new years resolution to be fit is out. I have been trying to go regularly, but each time I go out it is more frustrating. Two years before new giant facility is built. I love to swim, but short of having my own pool (never going to happen) this is quickly becoming a burden goal.
Yay for me – hauled my butt outta bed for the second day at 5:30 AM – today I had to talk my way through it, cuz I was up so late last night I of course REALLY didn’t want to get up this morning. I crawled back into bed twice, before finally saying to myself…. the extra 40 minutes in bed really won’t make a difference, since I likely won’t get back to sleep until 5 minutes before I have to get up for work. So I got up and swam. I feel good.
I have attempted to switch swimming to mornings for a better work out, and the local pool only has lanes waaay early, noon, and waay late, so I’m going for mornings. I have accomplished only going twice so far. I keep waking up fine, going to bed earlier…. sadly, always find a reason to stay in my warm bed. Will attempt again tomorrow!
I think I’ll get a better work out if I switch to a.m swims. Argh, I did it two days in a row waking at 5:30 a.m – hard to do but was better for how I felt through the day. Haven’t gone in a week now, ran outta money. I need to make this a priority or it will be never get easier and will never become a habit if I keep taking breaks from it.
First time in the pool in 3 years! Felt slow and powered out pretty quick but it’s a start – went on Sunday, going again tonight as long as I don’t talk myself out of it.
Well I headed down to the rec center and got a schedule to find out when lane swimming is and what times are good for me. Think I’ve got a plan now, managed to find a reason not to stick to it last week, at least I’ve got step one done, now to actually go. The first time is the hardest.
