Not too bad 2 years ago

This wasn’t as bad as I feared, but not as good as I remembered it. I will try fasting one day every week for a while, so I can get used to it, and then try for another three or four day stint.

Wrapping up day 2 2 years ago

I had forgotten how annyoing this can get. I do not feel hungry, and yet I keep wanting to eat. I don’t know how to explain it, but it’s similar to when I quit smoking. Then, I didn’t want to smoke, but I couldn’t help craving a cigarette. I have more than enough energy (glucose and such) stored in my body still, so why the urge to munch? Could it be that we are addicted to the sensations that come with food?

"Test" fast 2 years ago

I am on an all-water fast today and tomorrow, easing back into food with juice and tea on the third day. It has been a long time since I did this last, and I forgot how distracting hunger can be. It’s late evening now, so my tummy is asking for something (anything!) It’s good for my discipline to ignore that and focus on the task at hand. If I pull this off without a hitch, as I expect, I plan a supervised four-day fast in December. After that, maybe I can go a week in January. Mental clarity, here I come!

I fasted for six days before, so never made it to the week mark. It wasn’t easy, but not as hard as I expected. Consumed only water and green tea, and the hunger went away after the third day or so. It will be a while before I am in good enough shape to try this again, but I am shooting for early 2008.
