#21 One Red Paperclip  — 8 months ago

This is the story about that guy that traded a red paperclip for a house in 14 trades. It’s pretty inspiring.

I guess I fell short 4 books of this goal, but I didn’t include any books that I read that were more career related, and there were several of those. Having this goal definitely forced me to make reading more of a priority. I’ll probably try it again this year.

#20 A Home at the End of the World by Michael Cunningham  — 10 months ago

This was just ok. If you liked The Hours, it’s the same author.

#19 The Kite Runner  — 10 months ago

Yes, it’s as good as everyone says. I have put off reading this and I wish I hadn’t. It is the best book I have read in the last couple of years. A beautiful book.

#18 Middlesex by Jeffrey Eugenides  — 10 months ago

Read this book. One of the most unique stories I’ve read in a long time.

#17 A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius by Dave Eggers  — 1 year ago

Ok, I thought this book was good but extremely overrated. This guy was widely compared to JD Salinger, and I can’t help but think it’s only because he said “fuck” a lot. Interesting story and I enjoyed it, but did not match the hype.

#16 Harry Potter Book 7  — 1 year ago

Awesome. I will not spoil it for those of you who have yet to read it, but it tied up in a nice, if predictable way.

#15 Supreme Conflict by Jan Crawford Greenburg  — 1 year ago

This is a fascinating book about the Rehnquist Court. It begins with Sandra Day O’Connor’s appointment and takes you all the way through Roberts and Alito. There is a lot if inside information about Roe v. Wade, Gore v. Bush and much more. Highly recommend.

#14 The Mailroom  — 1 year ago

A collection of stories about what it’s like to work in the mailroom of a hollywood talent agency. Crazy!!

#13 Sex, Drugs and Cocoa Puffs by Chuck Klosterman  — 1 year ago

A pop culture manifesto…kind of disappointing.

#12 Baby Love by Rebecca Walker  — 1 year ago

This is the author’s diary that runs through her pregnancy. She is the biracial, bisexual, jewish daughter of Alice Walker. The book is facinating and an interesting take on parent/child relationships and our generation’s ambivelance about having children.
