Read 36 Books in 2012

Biography of a buddhist priest and an intro to how zen buddhism works. Not bad.

Next up is a kids’ version of Arabian Nights…

Third foundation book was good. Starting to get interesting. I’ll have to do the next one.

Behind schedule, read a shaggy dog story of a Star Trek novel. Good TOS references, good use of Troi and Shelby, little else good.

Red Mars was meh. I’m not sure whether I want to read the next two or not.

So I’ve officially reached the third point of my little journey. Apparently this is day 149 of the year and 217 days remain. It took me about 40% of the year to read 36 books. That’s ok. I had a lot of upheavals.

To reach my goal by the end of the year, I need to read one book every nine days. If I can just manage a book a week I’ll finish ahead of schedule.

I know I can get the next two Mars books from the library near my work, and I’m sure I can find something at the two local libraries. I may be able to get cards at other libraries, and I have a lot of books I still haven’t finished in the house, like Childhood’s End. I’d go looking, but I’m manning the rummage right now.

I can do this.

Thief of Always: Meh.

Q, Squared: Epic. Not as good as I, Q, but very good.

The Left Hand of Darkness: OK. Not as good as I expected. Going to be looking for Earthsea novels soon.

Next on deck: Red Mars.

Wind in the Door wasn’t as good as Wrinkle in Time. Read another one, too. Picked up the Thief of Always and another Trek novel at the library.

Ready Hyperion by Dan Simmons. what was the point of that?

Also read Hawksong by Amelia Atwater-Rhodes. Not bad.

Picked up a few other books from the library, including The Wind in the Door.

Need to get more from a library.. and turn the ones I have in. Due tomorrow!
