Walk slowly. Don’t rush. Each step brings you to the best moment of your life, the present moment. Thich Nhat Hanh

Such a lovely day today 16 months ago

It was the school trip today for years 1 and 2. It was fab, they were all so well behaved and just had a brill time. The weather was excellent, which makes all the difference especially, when the trip is to the seaside. We visited a seaside museum which was great, all hands on and wonderful for young children and we also went to the lifeboat station. So many interested faces and lots of hands up to ask questions. We were all shattered upon our return to school but it was so worth it… :)

Take time to be happy. Time is not a fast lane between cradel and grave. It is a place to park out of the sun.

a bad day today but I have tried to be present, alive and all that. Tomorrow we are taking my son back to uni in Notingham and I will get to see my eldest so that is definitely something to look forward to. Mind you saying that I will also be going to visit my mum, never an easy thing to do but I will try to be open and positive to it anyway…

Today was a beautiful day 19 months ago

The sun was out and the sky was blue… I was very fortunate to spend it with my family at a lovely place in the country. It is a buddhist retreat centre near York, which allows you to take advantage of the fantasic grounds that surround it. They have a veggie cafe there that is called the world peace cafe, I like that. There are so many magnificent Larch trees in the woodland, I love Larch trees, they are so beautiful. We were also very fortunate to see three Red Kites (birds of prey), one close up, amazing. I had planned to read during the car journey there but decided instead to take in the countryside, we saw so many birds and creatures, there is so much that I would have missed if I had stuck my head in my book. My youngest son was so happy, he had a fab day, especially seeing the Red Kites, he kept saying that this was the best day ever. Ahhh he certainly embraced the day… :)

I sat quietly in the woods today 20 months ago

listening to the birds and to the sound of the river and the wind blowing through the trees… I embraced this time of quiet and reflection and it lifted my low mood to one that was happier and more positive… :)

For the last 8 hours 20 months ago

omitting the time I took to cook and do homework with the little ones, I have been doing a skill’s audit for my job, all 1817 words!!! At work we are going to lose a teacher and 2/3 teaching assistants in July. As nobody has volunteered for redundancy we have had to do these horrible forms and we have been told to sell ourselves!!! It’s an awful situation, a small school losing staff due to anticipated falling numbers of future pupils (due to rural location). The government tell us in the UK that education is so important, smaller classes are needed. We don’t have small classes but we are a small school and for that we are penalised by the government. Boo!!!

Went for a beautiful walk this afternoon 20 months ago

Through the woods and to the magical sight of Mallyon Spout waterfall. I felt so rooted on the earth whilst there, it was so green and lush. I sat underneath a lovely Holly tree, absorbing its healing energy, it felt good. The sound of the rushing river was music to the ears, the little ones played at the edge, enjoying themselves; giggling and squealing especially when they managed to get their feet wet, even though they were wearing their wellies. Happiness is a walk in the woods… :)
