My One Word

In years past I have been able to narrow it down in just a few weeks and have had it set and in place by the first day or so so the new year.

This year, however, I seem to have so many angles and areas that I am looking at, that I just can put my finger on the write word.

I see I never made an entry about what my word was for this last year. I guess I’m not surprised. I pulled away from 43t last year… to tell the truth, I pulled away from everything; it’s been a very hard year. But that’s for another entry.

My word for last year was faithful.
I can say, without a shadow of a doubt, that even with all the turbulence and storms of this last year, that is the best word to sum it up.

I have learned that even in my failings and weakness, God has caused growth in me in areas that I thought were hopeless. Sure, at time I only see baby steps. But they are still steps forward, and I stand in awe of His Grace and His love for me.

I continue to learn of His unending faithfulness in all of life’s circumstances. There is nothing to big for God to handle or to small for His concern. He has intimate knowledge of all that concerns me and He wants to give me the very best that the God who created this vast universe can give. That doesn’t mean there will never be problems. If there are never problems, then there is never growth. Just as a mother doesn’t give her little girl everything she wants, neither does God give us all we want… who wants a spoiled brat as a child?

This year was filled of problem, but I have also seen more growth then I have seen in years… maybe the growth has been happening all along, there has just been nothing to put it to the test.
But it’s good to see. It’s good to know it’s there…
