$625 Mini Goal?

625 dollars certainly does seem like a lot… but that is my goal. Enough for a Louis Vuitton Speedy 35 bag. Something I have lusted after, and now that I am a teenager, can finally go for. A lot of kids in my town are a bit… spoiled to say the least, and might even get one of these babies for a birthday, or Christmas/Hanukkah present. I know I could beg for one, but it is so much sweeter when you earn something yourself! Right now I have:
$33 in cash
$35.06 in change (yes, I counted it all out… it took quite some time)

Which makes $68.06 my total for my jump-off point. Not bad, and soon I will be getting my allowance for the week, making the total $88.06. Unfortunately I am going on a trip to Delaware, which will probably completely drain my funds, seeing as my parents will not be with me.

I’ll do some scrounging around my house to see what I can find, and I will also try to get some babysitting jobs, but I am not really sure who will still be available this late in the summer. Most have already found some sort of steady babysitter. I’ll post some signs for lawn-mower, dog walker, and pet-sitter at my church and at the stores in town. Should be fun!
Any tips and tricks for where to advertise… any place I missed? Thanks a bunch!

xoxo, H.

Goal not accomplished, but lead to something!

So, though this goal is not done, I got a great reward for my money saving! Thanks to the over 1000 dollars I had saved, I bought myself an apple computer! It’s a shiny new laptop, a reminder of how hard I worked…

I have gotten quite a few babysitting jobs, thanks to some helpful peoples tips (thanks!) on how to advertise and get the job done right; and I am so happy with the gorgeousness of my laptop… hehe, sorry.

Right now, I accomplished one of my mini-goals, opening a bank account! I opened a savings account with Wachovia banks, and though I don’t get a debit card like I wanted, I do get to save my money! Yay!

xoxo, H

Babysitting?

Ugh. Tomorrow I need to go and get a bank account with my dad. It’s so much easier to save when you don’t have all of your money stuffed in an envelope under your bed…. SHH! Dont tell my siblings, haha.

I only have about $530 saved up. I was hoping to have about 600, but my spending got a bit out of control, and my dad keeps on forgetting to give me allowance.

I want to find other ways of making money, however, rather than mooching off of my parents for money. The easiest thing to do for a thirteen year old girl is of course- what else- babysitting. But I have no customers. My mother doesn’t have many friends with young kids, and even if she did, I feel so awkward asking them! What can I do to get myself some clients? Any ideas on advertising, how to ask around… Anything? I could really use some advice from some real people :-). Thanks guys!
xoxo, H.

Been saving well....

Okay, so my weekly income is about forty dollars a week. (20 for allowance, 20 for lunch.) I’ve been saving all forty by borrowing from people for like snacks, and well… “borrowing” my lunch from the school? Ughh. I’m an awful person… but my parents pay like $50,000 dollars a year for me to go there, so I think I deserve a two dollar wrap! Whatever. Already, I have about $500 saved up, and I am going to start a bank account, where I will actually receive intrest and stuff… YEAH!

Ughhh lost it.

This weekend was my towns fair, which is a big event, everyone comes out for it. We had carnival games and rides, and food… tons of food. I was stupid and brought alll of my “cash on hand”. It was maybe 60 dollars, that I was hoping to add to my account. Silly me… I get addicted to carnival games, like “Next time I’ll win the stuffed animal, NEXT TIME…” I lost, like 30 dollars on carnival games and food. Maybe even more. I don’t really know exactly how much money I brought. Ugh. Right now I only have 30 dollars on hand. Great.

I need cash!

I am a big spender. I made some money over the winter by checking coats, but now I want to keep it! I have some cash on hand, but I normally go and spend it with my friends, and I have to spend about 5 dollars a day on lunch, though that can be avoided. I get 40 dollars a week for lunch and allowance, and I have about 340 dollars saved up. I really, really, want to get a Mac laptop, which are valued at about 1,200 dollars. My dad has agreed to spot me, dollar for dollar, on what I make, so I really want to get to about 600 dollars, with maybe some cash left over, for clothes and things. I’m only 13, so aside from babysitting, I really don’t have that many money making oppertunities. I’m going to ask my mom to start “advertising” me to her friends, and I am going to go to a babysitting/cpr class, so I can have some certification.
