Send 24 books (2/month) to our Grandma

I sent Alexander McCall Smith’s Morality for Beautiful Girls and Bill Bryson’s A Walk in the Woods in the middle of February.

In this shipment, I sent two books… Blue Water by A. Manette Ansay and Tears of the Giraffe by Alexaner McCall Smith. BW is a book that I had just read and while I enjoyed it, it certainly wasn’t one that needed to stay on my Keeper Shelf. It was an interesting story of a couple in their 40’s who lose their only son in a accident caused by a drunk driver who happens to be the mom’s former best friend from high school. It tells the story how this incident affects the lives of all involved. It was pretty good.

The second book, TotG, is the second installment in the No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency series. Grandma really enjoyed the first book in this series and I am trying to get all of them to send to her. I have a few that are sitting in the wings waiting to be sent.

Our grandma lives on a farm in Iowa alone since gramps passed. I found out that she loves to read but doesn’t always have the money to buy new books and there is no library close by. I started last year and sent 8 books. But after seeing her on New Year’s Day and seeing how much she really enjoys the books (sometimes reading them 2, 3 or more times). I knew I have to send more this year.

My first book went out this week. It was Alexander McCall Smith’s, The Sunday Philosopy Club. She loved his No. 1 Ladies Detective Agency, so I am hoping this will be a hit as well.
