finish my book

I’m stalled, again. I tried a couple of things, including that thing where you make a posterboard with an outline of your chapters and events, but it didn’t help any.

I had an idea yesterday, though, while listening to a podcast – I could do a little podcast where I write short stories set in Elsewhere and then read them, maybe even play a little bit of music behind them. That might get the muse working. We’ll see.

Last Friday, I told myself that if I didn’t write a new chapter over the weekend, I’d torch the entire manuscript, including all of my notes and sketches and newspaper clippings, on the grill and fry some bratwursts over it.

That seemed to do the trick, because I started on a story that I’m pretty happy with so far. I didn’t end up finishing it, but I’ve been working on it pretty steadily, so I’ll count that as a positive outcome.

Now, I just hope I can keep the momentum going…

I’ve got 31 chapters to write, and only 6 or so are done. I need to move my ass.
