Yesterday, I went to the state fair, and the kids dragged me into the building where they hold activities for young ones. While we were in there, we saw these two ladies up in a little stage, surrounded by musical instruments and children’s books. One of them played hand drums and bass guitar (and from the looks of it, lots of other things, but we missed most of that), and the other read stories, played the keyboard and accordion, sang, and danced (like no one was looking, even, but that’s another entry on my list altogether). She would read stories from books or sing different songs while they played music together. She was incredibly energized (and usually pretty goofy).
They were so awesome. I didn’t want to do anything else but watch them. Really, I would have driven there, paid the admission, braved the crowds, and walked all of that distance just to see them.
But I’ll get to my point, since this story really should be a LiveJournal post instead. I’m going to do something like this. Not to compete with them, or steal their idea – just to spread it. I have to be a part of this somehow. We need more things like this type of entertainment. So for this entry, I’m going to post my ideas for how to make this happen.
