learn sign language

I took a class recently in Taiwanese Sign Language. I was fortunate to find a free course. I think I could have a basic conversation now. Hopefully someday I can learn more.

I watched the Taiwanese movie “Hear Me” which is mostly in sign language. I had English subtitles, but I recognized some of the signs. It was a really good movie.

It’ll probably be a while before I start. I won’t know which sign language to learn until I finally decide where I want to live, and in my immediate future it looks like I’ll be rather nomadic.

It can be practical even without knowing any deaf people: I like the idea of being able to communicate in a noisy environment or through sound dampening windows.
