I went to Seuol for Chinese New Year last month. I refreshed my memory of the Korean alphabet so I was able to order things in Korean. And, the trip made me more excited to learn the language. But first, my Chinese still has a ways to go.

I’ve been getting interested in going to Korea again, so maybe I’ll study Korean some day after all. I did refresh my memory of Hangul a bit.
I’ve become more interested in learning Russian and French lately, over Korean. I don’t see myself having the time to go to Korea to study with all the other countries I want to study in first.
A new student just joined my Chinese class today, and she’s from Korea. More opportunity to practice.
I’m currently studying Mandarin and plan to live in China for roughly two years. After that I’m considering spending some time in South Korea and studying Korean. I was originally thinking I’d start learning in China shortly before I’m ready to go to So. Korea. I know a lot of people think it’s a bad idea to study two languages at the same time. However, I’ve read other people have had success with two languages at once, so I figure it can’t hurt to try. If it doesn’t work out, I can just put off Korean until I’m more comfortable with Mandarin. So I think I’ll start this fall studying on my own. I’ll probably start off light to keep my main focus on Mandarin, which I’m taking formal classes in. I have actually already learned some Hangul, because it was pretty easy. I think one of my friends is a native speaker, so maybe she can help me with it.
