I got a part-time gig with the Courier News. It’s only one day a week but it’s something. I’ve worked with Patch.com before as well but it’s not the same as working with a real newspaper. I think this could be the beginning of something.

Write now I’m interning at NPR affiliate WNIJ in DeKalb. I’m getting quite a lot out of it and I think it can help expand my portfolio. I thought newspapers where the way to go but this so much better. They have a fellowship for this as well I want to apply for it as well.
Currently I am attending NIU for a degree in Journalism. I am also on the college newspaper. The only flaw is may have to give up my job at the Northwest Herald as plate technician there. It’s an hours drive there and back in the middle of the night. Plus, I have to deal with winter coming up and gas prices. It’s a lot to handle but I have to I will quit my job at Northwest. I leave it now as a plate technician, I come back with a Bachelors in Journalism. I’ll figure it out.
