Second thoughts...

I’m having second thoughts about this goal. First, I don’t have the energy or time to track every single book I read. For example, I’ve read probably five or six romance novels since I last posted on this, but I just don’t note them because I forget or I don’t have computer access or whatever. Plus, I’m wondering how good it is to track the books I read…is it some sort of ego trip?

Off to a slow start...

1. Much Ado About You
2. The Bluest Blood
3. Helen Hath No Fury
4. The Zen of Creativity
5. Rip Rap and Cold Mountain Poems

Some "required" reading...

Will I read all of these? Probably not. However, I hope to read several of these by December 2008.

1. Catcher in the Rye
2. Oliver Twist
3. Great Expectations
4. A Good Man is Hard to Find
5. Go Down, Moses
6. The Old Man and the Sea
7. Frankenstein
8. The Count of Otranto
9. The Awakening
10. Dubliners
11. Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man
12. Tess of the d’Urbervilles
13. The Secret Sharer
14. Light in August
15. Me Talk Pretty One Day
16. A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius
17. The Picture of Dorian Gray
18. A Moveable Feast
19. 100 Years of Solitude
20. On The Road
21. The Things They Carried
22. Of Mice and Men
23. Anna Karenina
24. The Painted Veil
25. The Good Earth
26. The Moonstone
27. The Count of Monte Cristo
28. The Metamorphosis
29. Slaughterhouse 5
30. Crime and Punishment

Only three of us so far?

So, my goal for 2007 was 50 books, and I’ve pretty much got that one in the bag. This year, I want to read 75 books, with about half of those being “classics” or “popular” books everyone is reading. I guess I really want to read some books everyone is “supposed” to read. With a degree in English, I guess that’s kind of a requirement huh?
