Rainy afternoon 1 month ago

Poor thing got caught out in the rain. When I went to rescue it, it was all cold and wet.

Fingers crossed that it wont rust.

Funny thing this morning 4 months ago

I had gotten my bike fixed (for real this time) yesterday afternoon, and when I wound up staying in Rockville instead of CP yesterday night I was thinking “no worries because tomorrow I can ride my bike to school instead of walk.” So I am all excited to do just that when it hits me that without a bike lock my bike stands a good chance of being stolen. My class starts at 9:30, this revelation came upon at 9:15. So I hitchiked.

AHHHHHH 4 months ago

The back wheel is wobbly. I can’t ride it yet! All I want to do is ride my bike!

$35.99 6 months ago

The cost of making an old bike road-worthy. Tires, tubes, blue strips for the inside of the spoke… Done! An adorable commuter bike in light blue.

Milk crate on the back?

I was going to take a bike ride today...! 7 months ago

But it is raining. We have Monday off because of Easter (what IS Easter Monday?) so I am tentatively rescheduling. Hopefully the guy I was going to go with today can come because that was a big part of the anticipation.

Shit it is still in my trunk from when I unsuccessfully attempted to take it to the bike shop. That wasn’t a total wasted effort because they told me that all it needs are new tires (can you believe it? It is older than I am!?) and gave me the specs on replacing them. I just haven’t gotten around to looking yet. I should do that now. Right now.

Time to take the ole bike for a tune-up 8 months ago

I have two options really: the bike shop or my buddy Arne. But actually even before I can do this I need to figure out which bike will be mine. My family operates on sort of a bike-coop idea so we have probably seven or eight in various states of disarray. Two of them are in really good condition and used frequently, but one of those was bought for my brother’s birthday. I want to fix up the white street bike with the curvy handles from the 70s.

Yayyy!

Trails around my house 9 months ago

I figured the first step was to identify trails that were readily accessible to me. I have biked part of Rock Creek once (and I was in real bad shape). Several times it crossed a road but otherwise it was very woodsy and the trail is wide enough to accommodate hikers, too. Anyway I would like to become more familiar with this trail because my first experience was pleasant. I have heard good things about the Crescent Trail that goes into DC. There is a trail that follows the Potomac from Mt. Vernon and of course the C&O Canal bike trail.

Cheers to spring!! I can’t wait to get back out in the fresh air.
