NYC w/ no alcohol

Had lunch at Traffic (Drag Brunch)
Dinner at Cookshop
Went to NY Dolls club
Then to Chris’ bro’s house

I didn’t have anything to drink and I had a BLAST!!

Dermatologist

I made an appointment to see my dermatologist and it went quick but well. Whatever new thing she gave me (topical, I am done with the oral antibiotics, I don’t think they’re good for you), seems to be working pretty well and I think my skin looks better. I also have something for the dark spots and I guess that will take a while to take effect. But it is noticebly better, at least to me.

I am trying to get in to see my dentist now for a cleaning.

6-21-12: Massage

I had a 50 minute massage with my favorite MT today. We worked on my back and hands and neck. It was divine. I need to:

drink more water
start stretching to get my flexibility back
continue to improve on eating “clean”
schedule another massage!

June 17, 2012 Update

I am done with cancer treatment. My last surgery was 10 days ago and I feel great. Moving into full on survivorship has its own anxieties, but right now I’m flying high in the grip of feeling good and having a great prognosis. No man knows the day or hour of his death so I will work on being content with what I have and what I can control.

Next up is:

1. Resting…don’t be too hard on myself for not having the stamina I used to. Ease into building stamina back up with walk to run, cycle and soon, swimming.
{color:red} I am doing well with listening to my body x%x resting/napping often.%

2. Start walking more.
For right now, I think this just means working into more day-to-day fitness activity, walking from farther parking spots, jogging up steps, taking the stairs, etc. versus any sort of targeted distance. I’m only 2 weeks post surgery and want to be mindful of that and easy on myself.

X3. Schedule a massage.

4. Look into summer spin class.
Flip classes start next Monday! Am I ready for a spin class? I don’t know but I am ready to try. I have missed it. Also interested in: Kickboxing, Zumba and Tai Chi. Still can’t get into the swimming pool just yet.

5. Look into buying/getting a bike.
I am trying to remember where my Amazon giftcards are so I can order the bike rack and then go pick up a bike. I looked at Kmart/Walmart…meh

6. Look into getting roller blades and learning to rollerblade.
Jon sells rollerblades in his store, I may check it out. I told a friend and she said…”that’s so 90’s” hahaha

7. Get organized. I’m not really terribly disorganized, but I need to lay out a plan for my summer so I can maximize my work and play.

8. Work to reduce the “spends” to save for house/vacation.

9. Put deposit down on DR vacation for May 2013! :-)

Rest

This past week has been one where my body really has needed the TLC that only rest can provide. I’ve had the house to myself and I have been deeply ensconsed in the couch or my bed.

When I listen to my body I know she needs more rest and time. It has been a heck of a year on my body with chemo, radiation, a surgery and more chemo and another smaller surgery coming up. I want to revere and honor my body as best I can from now on by feeding her good and healthy foods, nice treats, lots of cold water and good rest and exercise.

Mani/Pedi w/ the Jones'

I didn’t realize how desperately I need a mani/pedi until a friend gently pointed out that I shouldn’t be wearing flip flops :-) LOL. We went to a new place and they were great, fun and it was a good vibe. I had a delux pedicure and a general manicure. I had the salt scrub and the mud on my legs and they feel great now! My toes look fantastic and my hands are moisturized. I feel a bit pampered and I didn’t even realiZe that I needed it.

Do something nice for YOU today!

Organized and up to date

I finally got through all the remaining letters and documents I needed to file and shred. It feels great to be on top of all of my responsibilities and have all that paper filed away.

I still have many thank you notes and letters and cards to write, but those are things I enjoy doing and will do them a little at a time which is the key to getting pretty much anything done I think.

I believe having a functioning computer, printer, scanner and overall generally pleasant workspace, as well as the time away from work is key to my development and maintenance in this area.
*ps this is not my office pictured, but I like it.

Added $10 to my $5 bill jar

I added two $5 bills to my jar yesterday :-) fun fun fun! I will probably break down and actually count the dollars in the jar soon. I also throw my loose change in there too. I can’t stand having change jingling in my pockets. Last time I took change to bank for conversion I think I had well over $200!

$5 bill savings plan

This is so fun! I have no idea how much I’ve saved, I’d guess maybe $125. It is effortless and again…fun. This feeds directly into how I am wired, motivated.

I don’t know what I am saving for?
1. Bike?
2. Computer?
3. Shredder?
4. Vacation cash?

Friends Visiting

I had a friend visit two weeks ago, my golf buddy Dana from Virginia. We had a great time. Nice pace, fun things to do and just chilling with friends.

This weekend one of my besties, Stacey came up from Atlanta and it was more of the same. I love it when my friends cross-pollinate and meet and like each other.

These visits were much needed as I head into my last chemo treatment and face a smaller surgery June 8th. I can take a deep breath, feel that I am loved and continue on.

That feels exquisite.
