This is the book I want to write one day. Well, something like it. You don’t just READ this, you experience it. He’s great with words, the photos are phenomenal and the food…from sickening to sublime. I loved every.single.page.

A book for anyone who struggles with compulsive overeating. Has changed my life!
lol. great title and great little book about loving YOU first and why it is so important. It isn’t as cliche as it sounds but talks about how if you don’t love yourself, you can’t put out a reasonable request for what you want to attract. He does concede that you don’t actually have to be fully healthy, just on your way (which would explain alot of relationships most of us have…i.e. not healthy). It addresses some of the ways we posture and try to impress a potential mate and why this is all bollocks. I recommend this for anybody. no matter what your relationship status is. I like this because though I’m not READY for a relationship, it is showing me that I’m getting ready to be ready!
I think it is funny that this book and the one I’ll write up next are both relationship books and I’m admittedly and happily not looking for a committed, monogamous relationship. I’m enjoying (for the most part) being single, but would like to date more. The geography and some other things are obstacles and I’m focused on what I want to do right now in terms of hobbies, health, etc.
this book is really well done, not overly cliche and doesn’t dismiss the fact that we use our hearts/emotions more than our heads and so…we’re not rational. Great set up in terms of the tips it give if you have a particular patern, how to avoid it/start disrupting that pattern.
This was one of the better books that i’ve read in quite a while. The characters were so well drawn that I easily lost myself in them. She tried to make all parties “sympathetic” characters which always makes the story more complex, more human if you will. While I wasn’t particularly sympathetic to two of the characters, I recognized that, that too is like life or life like if you will. A definite recommend and one I may read again in life. I’m “gifting” this copy to my friend Stacey. I hope she enjoys it as much as I did.
Cute, chick lit story, i liked the concept and how the author played it out. Original presentation of sorts and some funny moments. Would recommend for a light fast read, but I probably won’t read again. I probably would pick up something else by this author though.
This was a long, dense, paperback thriller. I recall enjoying Christopher Rice’s first novel (A density of souls) and picked this one up in the Boston Train Depot. I will say that I didn’t figure out the “whodunnit” like I normally do with suspense novels, but the flip side is there was too much going on, too many characters and I just didn’t really care that much by the end.
My numbering is off because I read 3 other books before this one. This was a gift to me I think last year for christmas? I tried picking it up about 3 months ago and was like WTF? But this time I was in the right place. Awesome little book, fast read, truly imagination expanding. lovely.
This book of shorts by Enid Shomer is understated, subtle, quiet. Being the not brightest person at times I figured out by the end of the book that the people all did “go” somewhere but not in the way I think of “tourist” sometimes it was across town, sometimes across the state. The stories were interesting, but not what I’d call entertaining. I think I liked the mundane, minute detail she gives about her characters lives and the voices they carry in their heads. I would recommend this, but I doubt I’ll read it again. I really liked the first story and the next to last or last story.
Ariel Levy’s book is part fun, part horror in its investigation of how the women’s empowerment movement(s) have shown both successes and failures and who thinks whats a success versus a failure. This was a surprisingly “light” read and just enough of a nerdtastic book to make me feel like I was learning something but there were still some hilarious anecdotes and characters. Good read.
