Well, the Halo Consulting Contract w/ Tuck was ACCEPTED! I’m excited but at the same time have to face the fact that I’ll be in NH for 9+ months. I love the people and am looking forward to it, but that means travel is on the back burner for a while, at least the type of travel I’ve been enjoying since January!

I started paying on my 2002-2005 penalties, have my on-line calendar set up for MLT and got started there. Will switch from Yahoo to Airset so I only have to look at one calendar though I prefer yahoo, my clients can more easily access Airset. Still need to contact Tania at NOLS and send the final report to Tuck.

Thank you lord. Now I will focus on my health and squirrelling away as much $$ as possible and my other non-travel related goals.

Still no word on Gadling. Need to see if I even still have a job! :-)

This has been on the back burner. i’ve wanted and tried to get motivated but it wasn’t happening, then i just gave myself permission to rest, workout and play and now i feel the “mojo” coming.

I am hopeful and excited about the Tuck contract possiblity. It would be for 9 months, excellent money and i love the people. Though it is longer than i’d like, the time in one “place” would allow me to get some weight loss goals taken care of as well as save money, plan my next trip and next steps.

Goals
File 2006 taxes
Pay 2002-2005 penalties
Revise Tuck Proposal
Complete and Send Tuck Report
Create and Send ISE briefing
Call Tania at NOLS
Shiz or get off pot re: Gadling
Schedule July coach calls for MLT
Organize Yahoo Calendar and Travel Plans

I still owe my biggest client a report, and believe me I really want it done. But, it looks like they still want me back. I am going to one of our 3 biggest industry conferences for them in June I think. My small client (Gadling) is cool with me jump starting my series at the end of may when I get back on land and free internet is available. I need to check in on MLT and see where that stands and how/where Gwen is. I think my goal is to:

1. file 2006 taxes
2. work 2 hrs/day for Gadling
3. Work 3 hrs/day for MLT
4. Work 4 hrs/day for Big Client

by doing this, I think I can mostly work from VA and work on the rental houses and my physical health and other goals as well.

I’m kind of proud of myself. I’m 90% done with my biggest project 100% done with my smallest and 95% done with my mid-size client. Tonite I sent out my next to last invoice and mailed out the payments for subcontractors that I’ve used the last 4-6 months for various editing/web stuff, etc. Feels good. Now I need to find two credit card receipts, finish one invoice and mail that sucker with the receipts for reimbursement (from september!) and keep it moving. As long as my biggest client invoice comes through before i leave all will be well, i can catch the little stuff later when i get back. Damn…working hard for the money!

wow. i’m in the process of wrapping up my 2006 client invoices and packing up my stuff at the current client before the international gig. I did okay with keeping receipts tracked for invoices. I did a good job of staying on top of what I actually billed/worked and I’m very proud of my integrity in billing (cutting slack to good paying clients, not overcharging when I easily could have, subtracting out vacation days from billing when I didn’t have to, etc). I thought I’d only last about a year doing freelance, but I can see doing this for a while. Though I can ALSO see the appeal of working for someone who takes care of taxes, medical and all the minutia. But I wouldn’t trade my clients or this last year for the world.

i have a lot on my plate juggling multiple clients and deadlines, i’m doing some stuff really well, some stuff not so well (deadlines) its not at all that i’m using my time poorly, i am really seeing now that i just have more to do than hours to do it. i have to admit that though i’m good, i do not have red boots and a cape. must figure out what the true priorities are and how to euthanize some things that are near and dear to me. i think i’ve started doing this a la, pushing off juggling/spanish/music lessons in favor of business/travel/phd/bosch goals.

i have been free-lancing since march and i am lurving the freedom of working when i am most productive, working where i am and not having to deal with politics and beauracracy. i’m only doing this part time for now, but i landed a big client this week that will keep me in the country until feb but put some nice dollars in my pocket. i highly recommend it!
