I managed to get two 55 gallon metal drums that formerly contained former mineral oil. They were $12 each, but they’re in brand new shape. The place were I got them had some plastic barrels, too, but they formerly contained some sort of volatile organic compound. Not the kind of stuff I would want to use for watering the garden.

The city where I live normally has discounted rainwater collection barrels, but they seem to be out right now. Should I go buy something else that was purpose-made as a rainwater collection barrel, or re-use something. Where would I be able to find such a container?
