Canadia

Saving for…

$1500 set up in Canada
$1500 flights
$500 Fiji and open water license
$1000 insurance
$1000 new iPhone

I reckon since I moved and my rent is $70 cheaper a week, this is somewhat realistic. I do, however, have a shite wage. And am addicted to stand up comedy. And drinking. Well, not addicted in the “alcoholic” sense. I love me a good red wine.

Going into 6 months of hard saving

Saving for…

¥60,000 Digital SLR
¥80,000 flight back home
¥600,000 Canada
¥180,000 Macbook

Once I pay off my debts, I can buy a digital camera… that should come before my 1 month vacation in April. I hope.

Down the drain...

Doing REALLY badly at this…

Big debt thanks to me health insurance
Big debt thanks to my 1 month holiday coming up

Am doing quite well making up for it by just not spending any money. Being stingy as possible. Might do the trick.

Before saving happens… I must pay off my debt

Starting again

I’ve decided to stop travelling for a while so I can hopefully save some money again. The key now is to only drink once or twice a week, stop eating out, stop buying clothes. I’m setting myself at a budget of 1000円 a day. I’m not allowed to travel again until i’ve saved at least 300,000円. That should give me a good base to move to the next country.

The ups and the downs

Thanks to Thailand and having to pay for rent and bills on my own, I spend all the cash I had saved back home. ¥200,000 in about a week. Bugger. However, thanks my rent scam, i’m only paying ¥20,000 rent for the whole month, so now from this month i’ve saved ¥170,000. I’m going to try to save ¥120,000 per month in the months i’m not travelling. Hopefully by the time I get home I can pay off my university fees.

Success!

I just managed to send home ¥120,000 this month, and it wasn’t that difficult… just required taking lunch to work, only going out 1 or 2 times a week and not buying clothes n’crap. Woo!

A start is a good thing

So at least i’ve begun. My budget is ¥3,000 per day, which I am over at the moment, but only because I had to pay others for shift swaps and buy my train pass. This means not going out every 2nd night to an izakaya, but I think it’ll happen. My first goal is to pay off mum, then a trip to Thailand in December, then Hokkaido in February
