well, after a long while getting quite close, I’ve finally made this work for about a month. I actually cannot remember the last day on which I didn’t get at least 40 minutes exercise.

I have definitely made the last 4 complete weeks, and the last 3 weekends, so that’s minimum 26 days.

Feeling very good on it too. Definitely recommended!

I now have a fast road bike, set up for commuting, and I’ve had it out on 16, 22 and 35 mile rides.

This is working out for me most days now.

I use a combination of cycle commuting, gym work, badminton, tai chi, swimming, and (not quite often enough!) pilates matwork or stepper at home. I need to add cycle training to this list, but I have a feeling I am going to have to invest in a fast road bike to give myself some incentive. I know some keen cyclists, but I fear I will not make their pace. Maybe I will if I put in the training.

I rekindled this objective by putting myself on a diet requiring 1800 calories and 45 minutes exercise per day. It is quite hard work, but I am rarely hungry, and losing weight consistently for the first time in my life.

well. I moved house to a village some 8 miles from work. I bought a nice bicycle. I started cycling to/from work. It’s a great experience, 5 miles along the bank of the River Cam, then 3 miles through town. But after 3 straight days of this I am feeling really exhausted! Weather is deteriorating now, so I don’t know how long it will last, but I really need more strength. Aerobic fitness is not a problem, fortunately!
