Get out of Debt

Thanks to a small inheritance I have been able to pay off one debt that was over $1000. It feels good! I still have some money and am working with some of my other creditors to pay them off.

Getting Out of Debt

Today I am checking my credit report for any errors and to get an idea just how much I owe.

I do have a part-time job working 20 hours a week. I am still looking for full-time employment. I know I will have to have a good income to pay down my debt. Knowing my over-all debt will give me an idea as to how much money I need to earn. I’ve been out of work for so long and the economy is so bad that I may just need to settle for full-time work at any pay rate and go from there while I continue to search for better pay. Just an idea.

Starting "Get Out of Debt"

I’m just beginning to tackle this one. I have organized and Excel worksheet to define my expenses, what I owe, emergency money, and my income. Right now I’m trying to log every expenditure so that I can get an idea about how much I need to live on. I’ve gotten a new job and that should also help! I’m ready to begin this goal.

Postponing Payment

I just filled out the paperwork to postpone my repayment of my student loans. It’s been in deferment longer than in pay status. I really need to “get on my feet” so I can pay this off. It’s been around for 20 years and growing some interest on the side!

I’ve been back to applying for jobs. I’ve been out of work since 2006 and have applied for over 200 jobs with very little success. Most of the work I’ve gotten has been through temp services and that’s not long term enough for anything. Hopefully, things will be better this time around. I’m seriously thinking about becoming self-employed. I’m looking into options right now.
