Go through at least one box in the storage room each week, weeding out what I don't need.

Okay, since I got my personal challenge goal done this evening, I am going to make a run for this one for an hour tonight. Can I get through more than one box, perhaps?! Let’s see!

But I think this one will pick up for me as we get ready for Garage Sales #3 & #4, scheduled for July & sometime in the autumn. I’m anticipating that the 4th garage sale in the fall will be the biggest one for me simply because of my schedule. So, I’m not losing hope on the store room. It’ll get cleaned out yet!

Feeling good about this! First, I went through the box that holds all my videos and dvds. I ended up eliminating half of what I have. There’s still work to be done in that box (involving transfer of home movies to dvds, but that’s for another goal, another time!)

Then, I went through the box containing canning jars. It was a disaster, so I organized it. In the process, I discovered a hidden box containing jars of canned pears! Yes!! We’ll eat those starting tomorrow.

This goal fits nicely with my garage sale goal, but it’s separate, too. I like to keep the junk to a minimum, and establishing a regular routine of sorting helps weed things out before they get out of hand. At work this week, we had a retirement planning session. It may sound a bit morbid, but talking about all that “end of life” stuff reminded me of this goal, too. I don’t want my next of kin to have to sort through a bunch of junk after I die. I don’t want their thoughts of me to include: “Oh my god, why did she KEEP all this crap?! What a packrat!” I’m not sure what it says about me, but this is NOT the legacy I hope to leave! So anyway, I went through one box earlier this week. I plan to go through a bookshelf tonight.
