New routine added and update 3 years ago

Meditation added a separate goal.

Not much to update this week. Not sticking to routines much. But, I know I can achieve the routines however hard it may seem now.

Last week 3 years ago

1. Wake up before 8a.m in the morning -> BAD. NO PROGRESS
2. Eat at least 3 times in a day-> OK. Started to getting worse
3. Work out at least 3 times -> GOOD.
4. Sleep 6-7 hours a day -> OK. But sleeping in the day time
5. Fun for >10 hours -> GOOD.

When things get tough 3 years ago

Last week I have a taken dramatic U-turn…started working in the nights. I somehow think ( its not true ) I can be very effective in the nights. Not waking up early! Eating late! sleeping only in the morning…

Next few weeks are very important and have to get a lot of things done for my research paper. But I don’t want to lose my routines totally. This time around, I want to change. I am going to get off 43things now and try to sleep and wake up as early as possible and going to work in the morning. I will update tomorrow night, how it went.

update little progress and stagnant 3 years ago

Getting up early: stagnant
I am getting up at around 10 a.m everyday. I have made little progress because nowadays I don’t sleep beyond 10:30. But my goal of getting up before 8am seems far away. The main problem is going to bed around 2-3 a.m. Got to fugure out a way to sleep early.

Eating 3 times: Good progress
I have made a huge improvement in this. I am eating 3 times a day without putting off food until late. This definitely helps.

Finding my best work hours and places: Little progress
I am working well from 1:30 – 5:30pm. I am going to defend it. Found couple of places where my concentrating isnt hard.

Focussing on Fun: Good progress
I have been spending time ( literally a lot of time ) for fun. This helps me to recharge. I am just hoping the amount of fun will go down and will be able to put hours on work. I am not going to force myself though.

My routines 3 years ago

The routines I would like to implement are getting up early ( 5 a.m to 8 a.m ), eat three times a day, work out 3 or more times a week, sleep for 6 – 7 more hours everyday, have mandatory fun time at least for 10 hours a week.

First and foremost is getting up early. Deadline is a month from now (June 20).

Update on May 29:
I am eating three times a day whenever I wake up early. I wake up around 10 now. I have been trying to sleep early ( going to bed around 12pm instead of 3am ).

Update on Jun 7:
I am eating regularly (3 times a day )for the past one week. Today I missed it. I am waking up around 9:00 am an improvement except today(12am). I don’t want to go back to working in nights. I didn’t force myself to wake up early , just forced myself to sleep early. I am now going to try forcing myself to wakeup early and sleep early too. I think they work in tandem. Otherwise I wouldn’t be reaching my goal by June 20.

Update on Jun 10:
I have taken a dramatic turn on the wrong side2. Starting to go back to old days. Last three days: 12 noon, 11:30 am, 2:30 p.m.

Update on Jun 17:
I haven’t got up even once between 5-8! duh!

Benefits of Routines 3 years ago

I have always hated routines as it removes the zing in life.

I learnt it the hard way in life that there are several wonderful benefits of keeping few high-level routines. Some benefits include it can help to keep your focus on a long term goal, to keep your appointments on long term projects and to feel some control over things.
