Cure ADHD without meds

We have almost completed week 2 of fourth grade with few disciplinary notes (I am happy to note that the maturity fairy seems to have visited over summer break). I hope the good behavior continues. I think my children exhibit the natural behavior of curious, restless boys (watered-down Huck Finns). The ease with which the ADHD diagnosis and the “necessary” meds that follow is applied scares the crap out of me.
