I’ve been lacks in writing an update because it was terribly emotional for me, but I’ve come to terms with everything and looking towards the future.
My orthopedic doctor called me a week later and told me NO RUNNING—EVER! That my bones were too close together and there was a growth on the top of my foot.
I feel like he’s placing his own feelings regarding running onto me. I won’t be his monkey. I’ve decided to try and find a different doctor who will appreciate my need to run who can give me a second opinion. So until then, and also until 2010, I’m not going to worry about the fact that I can’t run currently.

Had an appointment with the orthopedic surgeon two days ago. He wishes I would just not run altogether, but his personal feelings aside, I was given permission to start pushing myself a little bit at a time.
As long as the pain isn’t unbearable and I run straight lines, no zig zag or sharp corners, he doesn’t see why I can’t start.
So I think my best bet is to start on a treadmill. It’s softer than the street and I can control the speed.

When I started training for my third marathon, I got sick and was ordered to stop all physical activity. Then several months later when I was told I could start slowly training again, I broke my ankle. Now I can barely walk. I was told I should be able to run my May of 2008. So I won’t start panicking until June.
