With 2007 came the resolution of getting into paperwork mode.
I’ve started getting forms and filling them and tonight I met with a lawyer thru the free Immigration Legal Clinic.
The lawyer’s advices were great, the whole thing does not seem too hard, I think we’ll do it ourselves.

I learned that if you have been married for less than 2 years you get a conditional green card for 2 years, which then gives you another thing to do to get rid of this “conditionnality”... so why rush it… I’ll wait till 2 years before applying :)
Well it’s not exactly the first day of things, I’ve started thinking about all this over 6 months ago and talked to folks who applied also. But today (June 14 2005) thanks to my personal Green Card PM Asayo I printed the forms.
From this page : http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-485.htm#fbaI printed the forms :
- I-485, Application to Register Permanent Residence or to Adjust Status
- G-325A, Biographic Information
- I-130, Petition for Alien Relative (if you are filing concurrently), or a copy of your I-797, Notice of Action (if the petition was already approved).
- I-864, Affidavit of Support
- I-693, Medical Examination of Aliens Seeking Adjustment of Status
I also printed form I-765 from
http://uscis.gov/graphics/formsfee/forms/i-765.htm
“Application for Employment Authorization, if you want to work while your application is processed”
- I-131, Application for Travel Document, if you need to travel outside the United States while your application is processed
Now let’s see how much time it takes me to read and fill them :)
