Perhaps it’s time to change this “thing” to simply “Play the Flute” because lately I haven’t even had it out of the case. I only play it if I keep it out all the time. I’m lazy like that. Unfortunately, when my flute stays out its condition gets compromised due to humidity, dust (hmmm… dusting… I should add that to my 43 things [wink]), etc. Anyway, Ian Anderson has what he calls his “kitchen flute”, which is an “economy class” flute he can keep on a stand in the kitchen so he will practice more. At least I’m in good company.
PS Notice I do not call myself a “flautist”. I’m with James Galway who once said, “I call myself a flutist. ‘Flautist’ makes me sound too much like an English nobleman with gas.” ;-)
